Save Corti Brothers!

The big news in East Sacramento this week is that Corti Brothers has been evicted from their location on Folsom Blvd. to make way for a place called “Good Eats”. Apparently, they have to be out by September 30, and they’re looking for a new location. Having never moved a grocery store, I can only imagine that it’s a huge, expensive, and risky job. As it’s my secret ambition to work in the wine department at Corti Bros some day, I wish them all the luck in the world and I plan to offer them any help I can and to boycott this Good Eats place. As an aside: the name Good Eats sort of grosses me out for some reason…the same way the name Cuil.com makes me feel sort of queezy.

Margaret has set up a blog for information about what’s happening with Corti Brothers and ideas about how we might be able to help them out. You can check that out at savecortibros.blogspot.com.

Some awards

State Fair Gold!

The Phoenix Landing won a Gold Medal in the Generic Red Category at the California State Fair. Not bad! We also won a Silver in Bordeaux Blend and Bronze in Cabernet Sauvignon. Apparently, there's a medal-winner ceremony that I get to go to where they'll present awards!

Margaret and I are going to be volunteering at the Home Winemaking booth at the State Fair too. We love the State Fair, and this is going to be a great way to get in free and get to talk about winemaking!
